Detail & Parts

Every component of our diaphragm pumps is selected for durability and performance, ensuring a long and reliable service life.

  • Pump Heads: Precision-machined and designed for optimal gas flow and high compression. Multi-head designs increase pumping speed and improve ultimate vacuum.
  • Diaphragm: A flexible, multi-layered diaphragm made from high-grade Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) provides excellent chemical resistance and mechanical longevity.
  • Valves: Constructed from perfluoroelastomer (FFKM/Kalrez®) or similar high-performance materials to ensure leak-tight operation and resistance to corrosive gases.
  • Drive System: A balanced eccentric cam and connecting rod assembly translates motor rotation into linear diaphragm movement, optimized for low vibration and quiet operation.
  • Housing: A compact and robust casing, often with integrated controls and carrying handles, designed to protect internal components and save valuable bench space.

Features

  • 100% Oil-Free Operation: Guarantees a clean vacuum, preventing any contamination of your samples, processes, or environment.
  • Superior Chemical Resistance: With gas-contacting parts made from PTFE and other fluoropolymers, the pumps can handle corrosive and aggressive vapors without damage.
  • High Performance & Stability: Delivers consistent pumping speed and achieves deep, stable vacuum levels suitable for demanding applications.
  • Quiet and Low-Vibration: Engineered with a focus on smooth operation, minimizing noise and vibration in the work environment.
  • Compact & Maintenance-Free: The space-saving design requires no oil changes or regular lubrication, significantly reducing downtime and operational costs.
  • Thermal Protection: An integrated thermal cutout automatically shuts down the motor to prevent overheating, ensuring safety and longevity.Technical Specifications

Principle

The oil-free diaphragm vacuum pump operates on the principle of positive displacement, similar to a piston pump, but with a flexible diaphragm isolating the mechanical components from the gas path.

  1. Eccentric Motion: An electric motor drives an eccentric cam.
  2. Diaphragm Movement: The eccentric is connected to the diaphragm via a connecting rod. As the eccentric rotates, it pushes the diaphragm up and down within a sealed pump head.
  3. Suction Stroke: As the diaphragm moves down, the volume of the pump chamber increases. This reduces the pressure, causing the inlet valve to open and draw gas in from the connected system.
  4. Compression Stroke: As the diaphragm moves up, the chamber volume decreases. This compresses the gas, forcing the inlet valve shut and the outlet valve open, expelling the gas.
  5. Continuous Cycle: This cycle repeats rapidly, continuously evacuating gas from the system to create a vacuum. Multi-stage pumps connect several heads in series to achieve a deeper ultimate vacuum.

Procedure

Operating the pump is straightforward and designed for immediate use.

  1. Setup: Place the pump on a flat, stable, and well-ventilated surface. Ensure it is not covered to allow for proper air cooling.
  2. Connection: Use appropriate vacuum-rated tubing to connect the pump's inlet port (marked 'IN' or 'VAC') to the apparatus you wish to evacuate. If your setup includes a condenser or cold trap, connect the pump after the trap.
  3. Operation: Plug the pump into a suitable power outlet and turn on the power switch. The pump will immediately begin to evacuate the connected system.
  4. Monitoring: Observe the vacuum level using a gauge on your system or an integrated gauge on the pump, if available.
  5. Shutdown: Once your process is complete, vent your system to atmospheric pressure before turning off the pump. This prevents any backflow and prolongs the life of the diaphragm and valves. Disconnect the tubing.

Advantages

Choosing an oil-free diaphragm vacuum pump offers significant benefits over traditional vacuum technologies:

  • Purity: Eliminates the risk of oil-based contamination (backstreaming), crucial for sensitive analytical and high-purity applications.
  • Low Maintenance: With no oil to monitor, change, or dispose of, maintenance is minimal and service intervals are long, leading to lower lifetime costs.
  • Environmental & Safety: Creates no hazardous oil mist in the exhaust and avoids the costs and complexities of oil waste disposal.
  • Cost-Effective: While the initial investment may be comparable to other pumps, the total cost of ownership is lower due to reduced maintenance, no oil consumption, and longer service life.
  • Versatility: The ability to handle both clean and aggressive vapors makes it a flexible, all-in-one solution for diverse laboratory needs.
